Principles to use E-mark Chip:
1) If you need USB Type C connector to supply voltage more than 5V, or current over 3A, then you must use TYPE C Connector Chip to achieve USB PD protocol;
2) If the device you are using with 5V voltage and maximum 3A current, then you need to look the device’s power supply and data transfer characteristics if the device itself only charge other devices or accept a charge from other devices, and the power supplying devices act as HOST, power using devices act as Slave, then you don’t need to use E-Mark Chip
3) This point is also very important to decide if the C-C transmission cable needs the E-Marker chip or not, the judging standard is that during the usage, will the current go over 3A? If doesn’t exceed 3A, then E-Marker chip is unnecessary. For USB A to USB C, USB B to USB C cables, then depends on cables to see if they need to realize Battery Charging protocol, if need this protocol, then we could use LDR6013 with the advantage for both charge and data transfer, to avoid the adapters which don’t obey the Battery Charging protocol so they couldn’t charge Apple devices.
Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test the data transferability, use 0.5KB, 1.0KB, 2.0KB till 8192.0KB to make read and write test, we could see the max transmission speed is up to 400MB/S.
